The Hague, the Netherlands, 4 December 2023 – PostNL has come through a very busy period. Between Black Friday and today, it processed nearly 18 million parcels and packets, with the busiest day seeing over 2.5 million items make their way through its sorting centres. Even in these extraordinary busy times, PostNL managed to deliver no less than 96% of all parcels within 24 hours and virtually 100% within 48 hours. This success was greatly helped by excellent collaboration with web shops, which this time also dropped off their shipments in the weekend after Black Friday, making sure that all St Nicholas Day presents reached people’s homes on time.
PostNL is proud to have helped St Nick deliver by far the most presents in the Netherlands. To pull off this impressive feat, it took a range of measures in both its logistics chain and in its communications and agreements with web shops.

Web shop Plein.nl was a case in point, with timely delivery by PostNL generating high customer satisfaction numbers plus impressive growth compared with November last year. I’m incredibly proud of our people who’ve all worked so hard in these past few days to deliver all those parcels, come rain or shine."
The weeks ahead will remain busy for PostNL, with Christmas presents and millions of Christmas cards to deliver. Once again, PostNL has made the necessary preparations and is calling on everyone to order in good time. It all helps to ensure that Christmas Santa returns home as pleased as his Spain-based counterpart.
