The Hague, January 8 – PostNL is once again among the select group of companies with an A-score in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) ranking, an international benchmark that rigorously assesses organizations on their climate policy and the concrete results thereof. This score underscores that PostNL not only meets the highest sustainability standards, but also truly makes a difference within the logistics sector.
Last month, PostNL also received international recognition from the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI). Suzanne Debrichy, Lead Environment at PostNL: “While the DJSI ranking focuses on the broad spectrum of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG), CDP looks deeper into concrete climate results. The prestigious A-score from CDP confirms that PostNL takes its responsibility for the climate seriously and is a leader within the sector. With this recognition, PostNL is among the absolute frontrunners in climate policy and transparency.”
PostNL is working towards ambitious climate goals: 45% CO₂ reduction by 2030 and full climate neutrality by 2040. To achieve these goals, the network is being electrified at a rapid pace. More and more parcels are being delivered electrically, not only in zero-emission zones. In the Netherlands, hundreds of electric vehicles are now on the road, accounting for millions of emission-free kilometers per year. In Belgium, the share of electric deliveries is also growing rapidly. In addition to emission-free delivery, PostNL is investing in sustainable buildings: recently, three sorting centers received BREEAM certification, meeting the highest sustainability standards.
The combination of clear climate goals and reliable reporting gives customers the confidence that by choosing PostNL, they are partnering with a company that takes responsibility for the future. Business customers receive validated data each quarter on the CO₂ emissions of their shipments, enabling them to substantiate their own climate reports. This level of transparency is valued by customers and partners.”
Consumers are increasingly making conscious choices for sustainable delivery options. By picking up parcels at a PostNL point or parcel locker, fewer kilometers are driven and the CO₂ emissions per parcel decrease by about 10%. Thanks to smart route planning and the growing network of parcel lockers, easily recognizable in the PostNL app, these choices contribute to a cleaner future.
